Accessibility

We're continuously working to make ourplace.scot as accessible and usable as possible for all abilities and disabilities. This includes older audiences and those with visual, hearing, cognitive or motor impairments.

We try to make our site easy to use with assistive technologies by using:

  • easier-to-read colours
  • larger fonts
  • keyboard-only navigation and focus highlighting
  • video captions

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the accessibility regulations (the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018).

If you're not happy with how we respond to your feedback, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service. They are an independent advice service. They will advise you on what to do next.

Compliance statement

The Scottish Government Planning and Architecture Division (PAD) commits to making the ourplace.scot website accessible in line with the accessibility regulations. This accessibility statement applies to ourplace.scot. It was prepared on 27 September 2021 and will be reviewed regularly.

This website partially complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 (WCAG) A and AA success criteria, with the below exceptions.

An internal accessibility audit was carried out on this website in December 2020. The site was then updated and re-audited in Jan/Feb 2021.

Non-accessible content

PDFs and other documents

Some document formats on ourplace.scot such as PDFs may not be fully accessible. Where possible we make documents accessible and/or provide a suitable HTML alternative.

Not within the scope of the regulations

This website provides links to submission documents that are created by multiple external agencies. These agencies are not under control of PAD and we are unable to make them accessible.

The website also provides links to videos created and hosted by an external agency. These are also not under the control of PAD, and may not always be accessible, but will work with the organisations concerned to help make these accessible.
