My Place Awards
The Scottish Civic Trust My Place Awards celebrate community-led built environment projects that have transformed their locality, as well as the hard work of the people behind those projects
The My Place Awards have two categories:
- Community-led Projects: recognises recent community-led built environment projects that have transformed their locality.
- Community Champions: celebrates individuals in communities across Scotland who have made a significant contribution to their local area through achieving positive change in the built environment, whether through built heritage, public spaces or access to these by communities.

My Place Awards 2024 Winner
The project would simply be known as “The Corner”, a nod to its strategic and historic significance in the town.

The conversion of the derelict toilet block into a new Community Hub to promote local identity and active travel.

The overarching priority was to realise the park’s history as central Scotland’s WW2 airport and create a physical and social environment to sustain this through community ownership, volunteering and social events

There was potential to benefit the community and consulted locals to nurture a strategic master plan for the repair and extension of the dilapidated 1914 former tennis pavilion on John’s Place.
