This review published by the Glasgow Centre for Population Health summarises the main ways in which built environment features and neighbourhood characteristics can impact on health and wellbeing.

By ensuring that people are able to experience the benefits of living in a well-designed, adequately resourced and well-connected neighbourhood, population level health benefits can be accrued. The review is intended to offer guidance to those responsible for shaping decisions on the design, characteristics and maintenance of urban places from professions such as planning, regeneration, housing and health.
