As our changing climate affects the places we live and work in, Scotland's people and Scotland’s planning system will continue to play a key role in adapting our current and future places.

A new ClimatexChange report explores the kind of geospatial data that is available on current and future climate risks. A 4-page briefing note also offers practical guidance for planning officers and those with an interest in how climate adaptation affects our places. This report is a valuable resource that can help you understand how climate change data may shape local solutions. It will support Local Authorities in their preparation of Evidence Reports and Local Development Plans, and others to understand how climate change might play out in their local place.

The research found that while flooding risk data is well understood, there are opportunities for greater use of publicly-accessible resources, such as the Met Office’s Local Authority Climate Service, Dynamic Coast, Local Climate Zone datasets and NatureScot’s Habitat Map of Scotland.

This report explores all these available geospatial resources, identifying data gaps, barriers and opportunities for improved access to climate data. Read the full report on the ClimateXChange website
